[ARC5] 400 & 800 cycle power aboard ship

I'd seriously think about building a solid state 800Hz inverter if you
really want to run the stuff, My guess is that the 700VA solid state,
crystal controlled inverters that are on the market from time to time
(replacements for the Collins inverter in the MRC-108), could be moved to
800Hz by reconnecting the drive to the prior divider stage. These are
great, reliable, repairable inverter, IMO.

A too-generous friend sent me an original 800-cycle rotory to run the GP-7.
I haven't put it into the rebuild que yet.
One end has a "cooling fan" assembly
which is built just like a mechanical, rotory siren.

Look at this one on Mike's web site:

See the holes at the end?
Now look at this photo of a WWII Air Raid siren:

No wonder they're so loud.

Since the rig will be operated "hobbiest duty cycle"
and not as it would in an 8-hour sub-hunter flight, I've been thinking of
removing the "siren" from the end to see if it can be run at a tolerable
noise level without overheating. Thoughts?
