Fixed shunt capacitors are used by many people and a broad range of
values all seem to give satisfactory results. In ER#7, Nov. 1989,
Walt Hutchens (KJ4KV) recommended 800 Mmf for 75M and 100Mmf for 40
and 20M. In ER#30, Oct. 1991, Bill Kleronomos (KD0HG) reported 560
Mmf as being "ideal" for 160, 80 and 40M and 100MMf for 30, 20 and
17M. Don't remember exactly what values I finally settled on (caps
hidden behind a panel) but use a single value for 75 & 40 and
something larger for 160. Tribute, I guess, to the broad range of
variability built into in the ART-13 tank circuit.
Detailed breakout schematic of the ART-13's tank circuit in all it's
switchable variations available on request.
