Jay et al:

I bet a lot of fellas are scratching their heads on these gizmos

The ZB & ARR-1 are 234-252 TRF rx-s. ZB used acorn tubes & was 1st.
Output of ZB went to BCB rx like ARB - or, later, BC-946.

YG tx was am modulated by a subordinate BCB carrier that, in turn, had
MCW modulation. YG fed a rotating yagi that sent a CW letter every
45 deg.s. Letter sent connected w. ship or base's compass heading with
respect to north. The letter family changed regularly. IE if "d"
meant 135 deg.s, you knew YG's yagi* was pointing SE.

The last rendition of these wre the ARR-2 that combined the uhf
TRF with a bcb rx. UHF trf section then used 9000 series, the "7 pin
acorns."

Ingenious dang thing that, if found by surveilance rx, would reveal
little because who'da thot of demodulating sig with a bcb rx?

I mean REALLY SMART

  'rm

*someone sed yagi's little used by allies in ww2. This application
 never made the thread
