[Antennas] Elevated Vertical

I am considering putting up a Butternut HB9 vertical. 
I am thinking about mounting it atop a 40 or 50 foot
mast with the radials fanned out around it.  Is there
any advantage to getting this kind of height or am I
better off to mount it closer to the ground?
