Hello All,

My dear friend Bob Lay W9DMK is one of the 5 of our Columbus, IN
graduating classes of 1948 and 1949 who earned Ham tickets while still in
High School. Four of us are still active so 55 years down and starting
toward our 56th.
I would like to pay honor to Noble Watson the ORIGINAL FOUNDER of
the 1430 kHz Broadcast frequency in Indianapolis, IN Noble was one of my
Elmers starting in 1947. Noble of course has long since been a silent
key, but what a wonderful teacher! He held the calls W9WE and W9RUC.
His W9WE call has been used for a memorial station. I believe Noble
first operated Ham Radio around 1921, but I don't have documentation for
such.
I got my introduction into Ham Radio in 1937 when I was 6 years
visiting W9WRC's Shack in my home town of Columbus, IN. Our 73rd
Birthday is coming up soon. What a wonderful hobby we all share!
