There is one very important caveat; when using a =BC-wave 144 MHz whip on=
 440=20
MHz it becomes a 3/4-wave whip. As such it will have a very strong high=20
angle component. That's fine if you want to talk to airplanes but for=20
toward the horizon communications (which most of us want) its performance=20
will be poor.

There is more to a good working antenna system that concentrating solely on=
=20
matching and/or resonance.
