My Experience with the CG144/CGT144 is that it is deaf on ~450.
The CG144 is a 5/8 over a 5/8 over a 1/4 wave on 2 meters. I've tried
listening for
FRS signals from near by transmitters and couldn't hear a thing. You mght
find
a band of frequencies where it will work but I'm sure it will be
"extreamely" narrow banded if you do.
All that said I think it is one of the best mobile antennas if your out
in the
boondocks and need to talk a long way back and with antennas I've found that
its best to check something out first hand and not assume that they will or
won't
work from something until you've proven it out yourself.
   Good luck. 73
