Rob,
Recently built a a balanced output tuner made with 2 roller inductors with a
capacitor across the output. Uses a 1:1 balun on front end. Simple electrically,
a little more complicated mechanically. Roller inductors ganged with sprockets
and matching belt. Works great, mine still in breadboard form. Recent QST article
(which I can't find) showed circuit and construction. This is my main tuner
for my balanced line. Hope this is of interest.
