[Antennas] WTD: Balanced Output Tuner Plans

Instead of roller inductors,  I have been wondering about the inductor on 
the screw driver type antennas.  If one could build this type of inductor 
in the shack with a plastic gear and windlass, how would it work compared 
to the roller inductor, that has inductance after the contact point.

Just a question to find out more info.
