If mounted vertically like the typical "quad" you can still select the 
polarity by where you feed the loop.  You can obtain either vertical or 
horizontal polarization by feeding the loop  on the bottom/top or side.

Maybe this wasn't the main criteria but if I had the mounting mechanics I 
would go with the vertical.
