A friend of mine has given me 3 Valiants for a project. He wants one good
one from all 3 !! I looked at them some and said I might make 2 but one
is parts only. I have a question I hope someone will answer. I need to
know the output frequencies from the vfo in the 3 different positions. These
rigs were butchered up badly by CBers and I know that because the funny
little chunk of metal that changes the vfo from the bandswitch was missing on
one and loose on the other. They were both stuck in the 11 meter position.
The outputs I get are ok for 160 and 80 meters. When I switch to 40 the
output is 7.1 and stays there until the 10 meter band is selected and then
goes to 14 . It is 13 when 11 meters is selected. I think by looking at
the manual the second position is supposed to be in the 7.1 range from 40
thru 10 meters and the doubler gets you up to the right frequency. Any help
appreciated.
Also just finished converting a broadcast BTA 500mx to 160 and looking
for QSOs on 1885. Hope to have lots of fun with it this winter. 73 Rich
