Hi!

The old "Radio Amateur's Handbooks" are very good for vacuum tube
designs. The ones from the mid 1960s are, in my opinion, the best.

You could also consider doing something solid-state, using modern
components. The class E transmitters are simple, and use inexpensive
components. You will very likely also obtain considerably better audio
from such a transmitter, since the modulator would be transformerless.

I have very recently finished a simple, 350 watt class E transmitter using
6 MOSFETs in the RF final amplifier. I am completing the documentation on
this transmitter, and will be putting pictures and schematics on the class
E web site.

Check out: http://www.netway.com/~stevec/ham if interested (click on the
class E link when you get there). I will be more than happy to lend
technical assistance or answer questions. There are also several other
hams who have built class E transmitters who can also lend a hand.

In any event, no matter what you choose to build, you will find assistance
readily at hand.

Regards,

Steve WA1QIX
