[AMRadio] ARRL President Hates AM

The real cause-celeb for us AM'ers is to convince the ARRL that ham radio is
a craft, not a game. The essence of ham radio is creativity, whether it is
fooling with a new fangled circuit, or developing the art of bringing a
fifty-year old derelict back to good or better than factory condition.
The game of purchasing a 50-button radio and figuring out how to use it,
then buying another 50-button radio and figuring out how to use that is
fine. We all know how well these sets act as frequency meters (they are
excellent!).
Money will follow interest, and our hobby is a dynamic, full featured
creative pursuit that educates, captures imagination and channels creative
energies. The ARRL's primary directive is survival. We're giving them a
fresh head of steam, lets make sure we understand what we do, and encourage
them (gently).
