Regardless of the ARRL Pres "liking" AM or not, the real issue for the ARRL
is and always will be MONEY!
Currently, there is significant monitary interest in old radios. This is 
reflected in
the number of operators on all bands 2m thru 160m operating, collecting and 
restoring
the gear. Building interest is UP and as we all have seen, even a "new" rig 
is being
build (true or not) for the AMer.

This said, we have individual interested in our "cause" with the ARRL, with 
the FCC
and manufacturers.
Money talks. Just this week, a conversation over heard on 75m ssb which the
operators were relinquishing the freq..."there are just too many of "them" 
(AMers).
Why bother, let's move"......and they did! No harsh words, no argument or
rule bashing!
It was just one of several events out of the norm I have heard recently in 
the Great
Lakes area...we can hope it onlly continues to improve.
