Just to add a few comments, to Brandon's:
His first stop listed "Meadow Road" is in Glenn Alps at about 2,000
foot altitude with a terrific look over Anchorage/Valley/Kenai
Peninsula. Kind of around the corner from Palmer/Eagle River but
maybe offers a "bounce" off of Mt. Sustina?
Check out pics of Brandon's Rover on our KL7VHF FB.
The BP50 site on the Seward Hwy offers working that grid back into
much of Anchorage.
The mile-64 site on the Sterling Hwy is on the ridge coming out west
of the mountains after climbing up from Cooper Landing with a great
shot north into Anchorage.
Diamond Ridge is elevation 1100 feet with view of the mountains above
Anchorage and about 150-mile shot from grid BO49. You can just about
use a HT from there to upper hillside locations like Chugach SP
parking lot (or Meadow Road). Remember Brandon will be there Sunday morning!
The VHF Contest is more like a "fun day" with lots of stations;
activity is the goal vs "competing in a contest". Starts off at 10am
local after the VHF-Up net at 9:30 am on 144.200 SSB. But a lot of
activity will occur on 146.52 FM, as well. All bands 50-MHz and up
are allowed. Giving your four digit grid is given in place of signal
report in this contest, with band and grid multipliers. See the
details:

I will be operating from home on 50/144/222/432 bands but may have
927.50 FM and 1296.100 SSB running, as well.
Hope to see a lot of you in the contest.
