Hello group,
You've probably all seen the email blast that went out. In case you
haven't, Ed has posted the schedule for the KL7VHF rover run at
https://www.qsl.net/ak-vhf/2020_June_VHF.pdf
This will be the longest rover run we've done so far: from Anchorage to
Homer. If anyone knows hams on Kodiak consider reaching out to them -
I'll be in range on Saturday evening and Sunday, so we might be able to
set up a sked. If they are beaming towards me on the peninsula them some
of the Anchorage stations might be able to pick them up too. Fingers
crossed.
There is also an updated calendar on the site:
https://www.qsl.net/ak-vhf/VHF-Up_Calendar_2020-061.pdf
The only big change was the September VHF Contest/MARA Hamfest. The MARA
club had some challenges finding a venue for their hamfest (covid
problems), so the only date they could get was contest Saturday. We were
already planning to help out with the hamfest, so we reached out and are
joining forces for that weekend.
On Saturday morning I'm going to show off the rover and make a few
contacts from Wasilla. I'll be running a short APRS workshop in the
afternoon to help out with the hamfest. In the evening I'll probably
make a few more contacts. The contest runs through Sunday, so that will
be the main day for contesting. I'll do a short rover run around the
Anchorage area on Sunday so that we can still get some contesting in.
Brandon
