Jurgen,

I use the SIgnalink USB also after many years of my own custom interface. I
have it connected to the Packet jack of the 1000MP(original).
I have to say I am very pleased with its function. The best thing for me is
it was plug and play. It also gets it power direct from the USB so one less
wall wart to have to worry about.
I use the Packet jack so I can utilize AFSK. You can view my menu settings
for my radio at www.n2ki.com. There is a link to my radio setting page. You
will need to make some very slight adjustments in the menu. Doing it this
way, you can also set up the USER button for PSK use. I adjust the Tcarrier
menu so that the 1000hz signal is centered on the pass band. When you look
at the water fall, your received signal is centered.

Subject: [1000mp] Signalink USB & 1000MP

Hi, I have not operated RTTY for years with my old CAM and like to get back
into it so I better ask to see which way is best. I am planning on buying a
Signalink USB and hook it to my logging computer which runs Windows 95 .
I have an older FT1000MP and wonder which cable to get to connect it to the
radio..
does it go into the 8pin mic plug or do I use the 5 pin DIN packet connector
on the rear of the MP. I would prefer the rear but If Mic plug, then how do
I switch over to SSB , do I unplug it and screw the MIC back in?
I have looked at Tigertronics web site and they show both plugs. The new
plug and play jumper modules may look nice but I think that the jumpers are
easy to install.

Another question is that they also have the SL-1+ which needs to be powered
wit 12V , How does that one compare to the USB other than being plugged into
a USB port of the computer I have a USB port or serial port that I am not
using.

I hope that someone can point me in the right direction on what to buy
before I make a costly mistake.
thanks, Juergen N9RD
