[1000mp] Signalink USB & 1000MP

I have used the SL-1 to run RTTY with the FT1000MP. You will want to run the
input, output and PTT using the 5 pin Din connector. That would give you FSK
RTTY which allows you to use the any of the filters in the MP on the
incoming signal.
I built a simple circuit in a small box that allowed me to use a DB9 cable
from a COM port [actually a USB to COM adapter] to the box and then wires
from the Box to the 5 pin DIN. The wires to the 5 pin DIN are the FSK
control line and the PTT line. [I believe I had to invert the PTT line to
get things to work].
I used the rear audio output jack [not the speaker jack] as the source of
audio from the radio to the SL-1 and from the SL-1 to the sound card. The
only job of the SL-1 was to provide isolation between the radio and computer
which avoided hum. There was no requirement to power the SL-1 since I was
not using it to control the PTT lines. I have the SL-1 cable that allows you
to do make your own selection of connections to the SL-1. I wired mine to
use the rear audio output from the FT1000MP as the speaker input to the SL-1
on the cable. If you want to run PSK31 or something like that you will need
to wire the cable output to the microphone. I have the small header board
which allows me to easily select which of the lines are interconnected
between the computer and the radio by the Sl-1.
You probably will use MMTTY to control the RTTY receiving and transmitting.
As I recall there are some notes from people about how to make the
connections between the computer and the FT1000MP. The SL-1 is simply a pair
of transformers that isolate the radio and computer grounds for the audio
circuits. If you are a builder you can fabricate this isolation much cheaper
by buying the transformers from Mouser and assembling your own 'SL-1' type
interface.
