[1000mp] FT-1000MKV Field Discontinued??

I agree that there will probably be a void in the $2000 area when the 
mk V and Field are no longer available new, based on my hunch that the 
FT2000 will probably come in at $3000 to $3500.   I think yaesu will 
try to keep it below $4K since at that point, it starts getting up 
there in the 9000 Contest range.   With the Pro3 at ~$3300 there will 
be a dearth of new affordable (if $2000 is affordable) competition 
grade rigs, however I'd like to point out that the Mk V started out at 
around $3300 and dropped to ~$2K after a few years, so hopefully the 
drought won't last forever.    Maybe after 3 years or so the price of a 
FT2K will drop the way the Mk V did.   I wouldn't want a newly designed 
rig in the first few years anyway, and my impression of the 2K is that 
it is going to be quite different--a lot more digital processing in 
lieu of analog circuits etc.   Well, we had it pretty good there for 
awhile, with $1700 yaesu Fields, and $1600 kenwood 870s but the party 
is about to end!

If I were looking for a new contest/dx  rig now, I'd quickly grab one 
of the few remaining Mk Vs or Fields and let others test the FT2000.
