Mike,

I installed the roofing filter in one of my FT-1000MP's and my IF gain was
set at 29.  It had been that way since new since I had never even the
setting since I bought it new.    That was far too much after the roofing
filter was installed.  With the roofing filter,  it is now set to 11.  My
CPU is 1.3 and this is one of the first MP's built, factory date 01/01/95.
Works 160M just fine.  My 2d FT-1000MP is a 2002 vintage but I haven't
installed a roofing filter in it yet.

I did send it my first one in to Yaesu for a minor problem and some updates
a few years ago, but I can't imagine why they would change the IF gain
setting.
