Dick,
I used a KAM with the FT-1000D many years ago ... it operates
the same as the Mark V today.
For AFSK, connect the audio out, audio in, and PTT to the PKT
jack per the manual. Select the PKT/LSB mode on the Mark V.
Set following on the Mark V menu:
6-4 Pac-FDSP -2.210
6-5 Pac-tonE 2210
Set the KAM for "High Tones" (2125/2295)
You will need to experiment with audio output level in the KAM
and mic gain in the Mark V. Your goal is reasonable power output
with the ALC display within the ALC range.
