Seems to me the way rigs evolve is some new technology comes along and an 
add-on box is invented, and we become used to it as a necessary item to have 
in the hamshack.  Eventually it gets incorporated into the new rigs and we 
consider it a necessary feature.  For example swr bridges, digital frequency 
readouts, keyers, rtty, preamps, vhf transverter, attenuators, audio 
filtering, tuner, 2nd receiver or remote vfo, etc., etc.  All started out as 
a 2nd box attached to the old rig.  So don't buy stock in IHY !  And if you 
want to know what the next decades ham rig will look like just look around 
the shack and see what little box is currently sitting next to the rig (PC, 
linear amp, and laser printer is all that's in my shack ??????).
