Gee, my Mark 5 begins to roll off the power around 1.8:1 SWR. It is much
less forgiving than my TS-930 in this regard. Thank goodness for my active
antenna tuner.
I think you may be misreading page 51 of the manual, where it says "The
built-in antenna tuner is capable of matching antenna with impedances from
20~150 Ohms, which corresponds to a maximum SWR of approximately 3.0:1."
