[1000mp] 9-1 Menu Setting

It is my recollection that 9-1--IF Gain-- is set at the factory and varies
somewhat from unit to unit. The Inrad mod instructs to note the factory
setting before installing the mod, and to adjust it relative to what had
been set, usually down a click or two.

Subject: [1000mp] 9-1 Menu Setting
This has been an interesting discussion. I believe that without the
front-end mod, the recommended setting is somewhere around 12-13. I seem to
remember that there had been a discussion by some of the more knowledgeable
folk on this reflector that led me to believe that 9 was a good setting with
the front end mod. I have no measuring equipment so I cannot give you any
scientific reasons for my use of that setting. It just seems about right
when I listen to the radio. This probably varies some with the radio. Mine,
incidentally, is a 4 year old 1000MP.
Remember that the 8-4 setting of also has a big impact on 80 and 10.
Maybe some of the guys who really know about this might jump in and clear up
the issue - better than my "seat of the pants" observations. I notice that
both Harry and Randy have had some good information on the topic.
Since this has nothing to do with "Monitor Roughness", I changed the topic
to something more appropriate.
