[1000mp] IC-756Pro II Transmitter Issues

Let me be clear. I have no axe to grind. No one from my clan would
ever wish to irritate a MacDonald.
However, Mike's and Adam's message cause me to ask about a subject
that has long puzzled me. I continue to read comments that appraise a
communication radio (or radios) on the basis of how they sound. There
has to be more to the story.
CW or SSB, if the station is intelligible in the presence of QRN and
QRM and all of the other "stuff," what is this thing called: "how it
sounds?"
I stress that I wish to learn what it is that I am not hearing and
should be hearing. I have been using communication equipment for over
50 years. How it sounds just has not been on the check list.
Before I stand back for an enhancement of my education, it occurs to
me that some who use the "how it sounds" might be using loud speakers.
I use only headphones and, presently, a Mk V.
Thank you in advance. 73 Mac N8TT
