George,

I am not an actual user of the roofing filter, but plan to get one when they 
become available again around the end of September.

I would encourage you to visit the inrad website at 

www.qth.com/inrad/roofing-filters.pdf  .

This document is a good explanation of what the filter aims to achieve and 
how it works etc. I think that's a good starting point.
