[1000mp] MkV NB OK on sub US on Main

My MkV noise blanker has never seemed to do anything useful no matter 
which setting I tried, so I had given up on it.  Today I was listening 
split with Main in the left ear and Sub in the right.  Some impulse 
noise came on which any NB should take be able to take care of.  I 
thought I would try the NB so turned it on.  As usual, no effect on 
noise in left ear (Main).  Noise in right ear (Sub) vanished.  Blanker 
setting was A1.  

Any ideas on how I might get it working on the Main?  The radio is long 
out of warranty.  I would rather not ship it to W6, especially at the 
start of the season.
