[1000mp] Bad Antenna Relay?

"The return of my problem suggests either:
the offending relay was replaced with an equally failure-prone unit.
rather than self-burnishing, mine have partially self-destructed."

Or . . . that the relay wasn't the root of the problem in the first place
;-)

"Don't think it is a built in AGC problem."

I don't think the deaf rx problem is an AGC problem, but perhaps something
in the electronics that control rf/if gain. For example, Yaesu is using
microprocessor/digital control to set the gain in some stages and perhaps
this or something in the control signal path goes south at times.

Someone is most likely to notice the deaf rx problem if they are an active
contester and spend a large percentage of the time "running", ie ceaselessly
cq'ing and listening for callers several times a minute. This cycle might
be repeated more than 10,000 times over a weekend. And even then it might
not happen at all during a 48 hour contest, or it might happen several
times. Also, it takes some astuteness - it is easy to think that it was QSB
or off-channel interference causing the loss of gain and not realize your
receiver went momentarily deaf for no good reason.
