[1000MP] Bad Antenna Relay?

I had a similar problem with my Mark V, but only with one of several wire
antennas that I use. Often, when I would turn the set on, there would be very
low reception. A click on the mike push-to-talk button would clear it.
Sometimes it would return during the same session on the air. Eventually, it began
to return repeatedly during a single session, and I had to do something.
Even though the symptom seemed like a stuck relay, it occurred with only one
particular antenna, so I assumed the problem was related to that antenna. I
replaced the feedline and the balun, and the problem hasn't returned in the 6
months since.
But reading all the e-mails about the antenna relay is making me think about
this problem again. Maybe some aspect of this one antenna (static build-up,
or moisture in the balun) was causing a funny current flow, which in turn
caused the relay to stick?
Does this match anyone else's experience?
