I'd agree 327% on this statement!  I just bought a Mark V myself about 2 
weeks ago.  The first few times I was operating split (or so I thought), I 
had the 2nd VFO *set* to the split freq, but failed to push the 2nd VFO TX 
button.  Needless to say I got yelled at by the frequency police!  ;-)

After using a Kenwood TS850 for nearly 9 years, it takes a mental note to 
make sure you really are split.  The 850 would change the display freq on 
TX so you always knew.  The only thing on the Mark V is the red LED on the 
right, instead of the left.
