If your old notebook has no USB, but has PCMCIA slots, you can add pcmcia
to serial pcmcia cards

If you have an Ethernet port, you can go to Ethernet to serial converters.
Check same URL above for quatech device servers (ethernet to serial) or
www.digi.com . Digi has a neat unit called Digi One SP, if one serial over
the Ethernet is enough.
