First off, only use the moni "on" when using VOX semi-break-in.  there is a
menu setting for the speed of the semi break-in and it should be relatively
slow as you would set it for speaking.

If you want QSK, and you have the BK-IN switch "on" then "MONI" should be
"OFF."  It is in the manual instructions.  Note, the default menu speed for
QSK is .05 MS.  This is TOO fast.  The length of a dit at 60 wpm is 20 ms.
The speaker is recovering faster than the radio hence the clicks and pops in
the radio.  If you set the menu speed for BK-IN to a reasonable speed such
as 20 or even 30 ms so the speaker doesn't beat the radio you will find that
actual break-in speed is unchanged but the monitor clicks go away!!!

On the air clicks is another thing.  You must do the INRAD or W8JI mod to
get rid of the on-the-air clicks.  That has to do with shaping of each
character
