Well this doesn't seem like it could work, and it doesn't. When you push the
STO button (9) followed by one of the 6 memory buttons, if you don't press
STO again within about 10 seconds, it seems to go out of programming mode,
so that pressing STO again doesn't exit, it starts it into the next
programming mode. So I can hardly wait 60 seconds for it to "run to the
end".

If I enter 4A 4A CO CO BK into the ID memory, then QSL TU DE W0DZ FD K into
memory 2, I get K 4A CO CO BK in the ID memory and QSL TU DE W0DZ K4A in
memory 2. It's pretty messed up. I have tried entering nothing into the
memories one at a time (only hitting STO before the 10 sec timeout), I have
tried waiting a while before programming other memories. Nothing seems to
help.

How does this thing work anyway? It's a pretty strange way to program
memory.

Think Yaesu needs to go back to the drawing board on this one.
