[1000mp] Diversity reception using the FT-1000MP

Am I missing something here? I know this procedure makes the VFOs track,
but it doesn't make the two receivers use two different antennas. So far as
I can tell, having two receivers listening on the same frequency produces
some interesting audio effects, but it doesn't let you copy signals that
would otherwise be uncopyable.
The problem is that the MP and MK V connect both receivers to whichever
antenna the main receiver is connected to. This is necessary because if the
receivers were separated, one would lose the input bandpass filters.
An interesting mod would allow you to connect the main receiver to antenna A
or B and the sub receiver to the RX antenna port.
