[1000mp] MkV and AM power?

Thanks Tom.  I understand your explanation about open loop AM power control vs closed loop in SSB and CW.  So, at this
point, my question boils down to, is it normal on the MkV for 200W to be reached in the first 1/4 of travel of the power
knob in AM mode?  With the small diameter of the knob and stiction in the control it is nigh impossible to set 50 watts.
If it is normal, it appears to be a poor implementation of a good thing.

I wanted to get one of the fatter knobs (as on the Field) for the keyer speed control but a fatter knob would help here
too.
