  IMHO, for $900 bucks, I'd take it, send it in soemplace for a complete 
overhaul.
I have no experience with anyone but Yaesu repair. But there are others out 
there.
I've heard good about some and terrible about others. Unfortunately, I 
don't remember
which was which...hi.
For what it's worth to those others on the reflector, I spoke to Chip, K7JA 
, at Ham Com
last month about the repair situation. He knows they have been having a 
problem, but
assures us that it will be under control soon. The new parts system he 
described sounded
quite elaborate and should be pretty efficient. I suppose we will see.
