Phil,

My DSP is always on. Usually the NR is on �A�.
As far a I know at least two things happen:
sideband-suppression (the dsp also does the job of detecting the signal),
and the 100-3100 bandwith kicks in. This last one is very nice
because it takes away the IF hiss everybody is talking about.
I never had the experience that you describe.
Maybe the introduction extra hiss when you switch the dsp off
helps your ears to listen better.
