The auto tuner Wait lamp flashes avery 10.4 kHz. The MkV tuner breaks
the bands down into 10.4 kHz steps.  You can see this as you tune through the
band with the tuner on.  Every 10.4 kHz the wait light will come on briefly.

When you press and hold Tune, the tuner tunes and stores the result for that
10.4 kHz segment. There are a fixed number of ATU memories available so you can
only store tunes for that number of segments. If you return to a previously
tuned segment and hold Tune again, the new tune will replace the previous tune
for that segment and will not take up another ATU memory.

When you store tunes for various segments within a band, the tuner will
interpolate between them when the radio is set to frequencies in between.
