Well I'll confess that I broke down and started reading the MK V manual last
night and had just read the issue raised so do not consider me a MK V expert
:-) Have had an MP for a number of years so the learning curve on the MK V
was not quite as severe.

73 es Season Greetings to all
Paul

|Interesting Paul. I never noticed the flash on the "Wait" lamp because I
|never use the antenna tuner. Looks like your correct in your assessment.

|Actually I believe these thumps are the memory band edges for the 43 ATU
|memory slots. If you watch the WAIT lamp on the display you will see it
|flash momentarily as you cross these frequencies. As the user moves up and
|doen the band the ATU moves from one memory setting to the next and the RX
|is muted for just a fraction of a millisecond when this occurs.

||==========
||All MPs and Mark Vs have the "thump" you mention. It occurs every 81.92
||kHz on the dial, apparently a harmonic of a digital counter in the radio.
||
||The first one you will hear is at 163.84 kHz (2nd harmonic) and the last
||one is at 29982.72 kHz (366th harmonic).
