[Yaesu] FT-817 battery questions

Tom,
The AA battery holder was a separate piece that plugged in with that
little connector. I have one of those for my 817. It came with my radio
when new.
You may find the holder on line at various places. I've also seen the
battery doors for sale too, but can't remember where.
In mine I usually use a sealed battery pack. I've bought them on Amazon
(called HQRP Ni-MH Battery) for $21.
