Ken,

Since the TTP works, that helps isolate it. Generally the TTP goes in a
hi-level point in the audio train. Since the TTP works, I would suspect the
Mic pre-amp or circuitry surrounding it. You could just have a broken wire
behind the Mic connector.
Also look at your menus. It may have a setting that mutes the Mic or a mute
switch on the Mic.
