[Yaesu] FT 890 problems

I have an FT890 that was working one day and the next day when I turned 
the radio on the following problem happened.

when turning on the unit the frequency display blinks on and off. At the 
same time the meter goes from zero to almost max deflection.

Does anyone know where the problem exists and can it be easily fixed??

Also if it is not an easy fix, does anyone know a good person that can 
maybe repair the unit.?
