Correct, menu 86 selects your TRANSMIT filter.

Row N in multifunction row selects your LISTENING filter.

The adjustments are independent.


Since he wants to run AFSK, he will be in SSB mode and may have to adjust 
carrier offset, I have never had to, myself, change it from my normal SSB 
setting which is + or - 200Hz depending on LSB or USB(menus 15,16,17,18-set 
once and forget, but DO set the receive so you like the sound, then set 
transmit the same and ask someone  how you sound...you may have to adjust it 
slightly for THEIR ears.)

Personally, I would try  it without the  500 filter first.  Keep your ALC 
reading LOW, just a wiggle at the left edge, or NONE!
This will keep you narrow and not bothersome to others.
