You will RUIN the tuning encoder, if you force the shaft! Remove the 
rubber ring, and THEN you can see the small, metric allen headed 
setscrew that locks it to the shaft. If you are not able to get 
sufficient leverage with your fingers to stretch it enough to start it 
on its way off, CAREFULLY working a very small flat-bladed screwdriver, 
or dull knife blade under it, may be of assistance. The rubber is held 
on by being made slightly SMALLER in inside diameter than the knob 
outside, so it is somewhat of a tight stretch fit, and must be stretched 
slightly more for removal. I have successfully removed and replaced many 
of these YAESU knobs, usually with only fingers and suitable allen 
wrench. If you break the encoder, you WILL have a problem, so if unable 
to do this yourself, get skilled assistance, and save the radio!  ( If 
your fingers/hands are arthritic or otherwise physically compromised,
