[Yaesu] FT897D common problems

I think the 857 is a bit more versatile for both mobile and home station
use. Its more compact, but doesn't have provisions for the internal
battery or low power power supply. The front panel can be remoted which
simplifies mobile mounting and right now most sellers are including the
separation kit as a bonus. I think otherwise the two radios perform the
same. There's one 857 on qth.com with a corrosion problem on the control
board that yaesu wants a great deal of money to repair. I know of one
857 that has had a display problem. Its symptoms are that the display
edge connector has gaps or the row driver has broken.
