[Yaesu] FT-980 driving an amp problem

I have a Dentron DTR-2000L amp that I drive with a Yaesu FT-980. I use the
FRB-1 relay box to overcome an older problem with driving an amp that might
not like QSK on CW. The FRB-1 also overcame a problem with a delay in
getting drive to an amp.
Even with the FRB-1 in the keying line I have a delay in the drive to the
amp. This happens only on 40 meters. I have tested the combination on the
other bands and there is no problem. I put a IC-740 in place to drive the
amp and it too works well on all bands except 40 where I have a full 100
watts barefoot but driving the amp I pnly have 45 watts. It appears that
there is a high SWR mismatch on 40. No special cable is required with the
Icom but its funny that both the Yaesu and Icom have problems on 40.
I am looking for ther manual and schematic for the DTR-2000L but I don't
recall the amp having a tuned input but I used the amp with another FT-980
(with FRB-1) for years with no such problems.
Any ideas? It does not seem to be RF feedback as the signal reports tell me
I'M OK. Sounds Ok in the monitor, too.
