[Yaesu] FT990 help needed

Sounds like it might be thermal. I would open it up and confirm all
connecting cables/jumpers are clean and tight. Then, anything that's
not mechanical I always check: (1) power supplies, (2) voltage
regulators, (3) electrolytic caps on whatever board is relevant.
If the push buttons seem tight or 'sticky' sometimes they get crud in
or behind them and don't make good contact.
