Hi Dave

I found out tonight there is not a problem with the rig. The fast
scanning works if the "scan" switch is switched to "manual" The scan
switch has 3 positions
 * Manual
 * Auto
 * Stop

if that is in the manual position, and the fast up/down buttons are
depressed, then it does scan in 100 kHz steps.

I find the ergonomics of this rig a bit poor in places. The buttons to
start the scanning are on the keypad, but to stop the scanning one
uses a toggle switch in a totally different part of the rig. I don't
think things are as logically grouped as they could be. But it seems
that my rig is functional.

I'm contemplating whether to make a memory board for this rig. This
was an option and used two chips each with 512 bits of static RAM.
Getting the old ICs would be difficult, but using a larger modern SRAM
device should not be hard. The circuit is incredibly simple.

Dave
