Standard problem in the FT-736r and when I dug in I found all the small
electrolytics in the power supply were bad. I replaced them with the
lowest ESR and highest temperature rated electrolytics I could buy and
its worked ever since. Electrolytics go bad with age. They go bad faster
when not used. The ones I replaced were all in the switching supply
control circuits. The power filters from the AC line rectifier and after
the switching parts checked out fine.

It exhibited the standard problem of pilot light glow for an instant and then dimming to no output. There is no voltage and the fan is inoperative. Not certain if I want to stay with the Yaesu supply. Has anyone addressed a similar problem with the installation of a dual voltage replacement using a different manufacturer? I would appreciate if anyone having a similar experience would share the solutions with me. Regards, Ron W2CQM/3
