Try it with another wattmeter. Accuracy of the Waters unit is much lower
above 10 meters.

Subject: [Yaesu] FT-450 6 Meter Problem

Hello,

I just purchased an FT-450.

I connected it to my Waters 334 Dummy Load/Wattmeter, which is rated at up
to 1 KW at 230 Mhz, on the 100 watt scale.

On the 160M to 10M bands, in SSB mode, everything is normal. The meter is
near zero, you talk into the mic, and the needle moves up the scale as you
talk.

On the 6 meter band, still on SSB, the meter immediately goes to almost full
scale, and remains there, like you had selected FM or CW, instead of SSB.
Changing modes makes no difference. Whatever mode you select, nothing
changes. I went into the menu and changed RF Power to 10 watts, and that
made no difference either. I also did a full reset, and that made no
difference either.

Suggestions anyone?

Thank you,

Bruce WA8TNC
